Evidence Syntheses, Methods and Systematic Reviews
By combining all available evidence in a systematic manner, evidence synthesis plays a vital part in informing policy and evidence-based practice. The reliability of systematic reviews are dependent upon methodological rigour and in many areas of research, particularly where interventions are complex, methodological development is necessary. Evidence syntheses are employed and valued across a wide range of contexts and fields including: nursing, dentistry, medicine, health services psychology, public health, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, educational research, sociology, business management, and international development. Regardless of the field of enquiry, the conduct of high quality reviews requires highly skilled individuals to plan, execute, critique and report them.
